&imgCount=2& &title=METHODIST CHURCH OF SAMOA RICHMOND,CALIFORNIA& &body=It is said that a church is built with spirit, not with concrete; nevertheless, it was a particularly rewarding challenge to convert a utilitarian, industrial warehouse into an inviting church for the John Wesley Parish. Though the renovation appears drastic, the project was deceptively simple—and budget-conscious. We added a broad entry at the front, raised the roof and ceiling over the sanctuary, and erected a corner bell tower. We incorporated elements of the traditional Samoan meeting hall in the open entryway and in the window shapes.
