&imgCount=2& &title=DEPT. OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA& &body=This County building looked like a prison- an unfriendly concrete megalith with tall, narrow, slot windows designed to fend off attackers. Our job was to make the building a more inviting destination, a place of welcome. We used color to articulate the architectural elements on the building, thereby reducing the perceived mass of the structure to groups of smaller, more human scaled pieces. The main body is painted as a receding background color, while bays, window and door recesses, and stair towers are articulated as individual pieces working off a base by giving each component its own color.& &img0=ccc01.jpg& &img1=ccc02.jpg&
