&body=The Richmond Art Center is a gem in the community, an active space for art exhibitions, classes, and events. The “U” shaped building, built in 1949, wraps around a large courtyard that is at present, a barren, concrete square that gets little use. Our charge is to revitalize the courtyard into a place where large, outdoor artworks can be displayed and performances can be staged. We will also reorganize portions of the building. The reception area will be moved to face the main entry, an art/book store will be added, and staff offices will be centralized. New restrooms and a café will be accessible to both the courtyard and the center itself.&
