&body=We opened up this cluttered old kitchen to take advantage of its sunny southwestern exposure and added a deck on the back of the house to better integrate the house into the yard. Inside, we made an island for the stove giving the kitchen an open flow with wide, defined paths to all its utilities. The low windowsill at the sink looks out onto beautiful gardens. A new built-in desk next to the back door provides a convenient place to manage the household. Whether dining at the corner table or on the deck, the owners can better enjoy their deep, lush yard.&
